The Whole Bank Music Video

I had the privilege of leading the art direction for The Whole Bank music video, where we drew inspiration from the opulent aesthetics of 1980s capitalism to craft a visually striking narrative. Collaborating closely with director Nolan Huber-Rhoades and artist Linqua Franqa, we juxtaposed the era's lavish imagery against themes of economic justice and collective empowerment. This approach not only highlighted the song's message but also offered a satirical take on consumer culture, amplifying the impact of the visuals.

The song was written by Linqua Franqa, the stage name of Mariah Parker, a non-binary rapper, labor organizer, and former Athens-Clarke County Commissioner. Their work focuses on public policies and personal struggles, connecting their experiences to social inequality and the need for change. The artist has been featured by NPR’s All Things Considered and The Rolling Stones, and has performed at festivals like SXSW.

The production was a joint effort with the Debt Collective. The Debt Collective is a union of debtors committed to abolishing unjust debts and transforming the economic system. It empowers individuals to challenge predatory lending practices and advocates for policies like free public education and comprehensive debt cancellation. Through collective action, the Debt Collective seeks to build a fairer economy for all.
